I realized I haven't done a feeding post yet. For shame! Watching snakes eat is very fun. Before we get started, warning: this post contains pictures of a dead mouse. If you can't handle seeing dead rodents, this is a post you should not read.
Note: I feed Noodle dead mice. These mice have been suffocated and frozen (then thawed before feeding) for the snake's safety. This is the most humane way to kill feeder mice.
And without further ado, I present: Lunchtime with Noodle
Step 1: Thaw the mouse
Thawing it completely is very important. Let it soak in hot water for a good amount of time. You can use a tupperware designated for just mice, or...
.....you could just put it in whatever water glass you just finished drinking from, like me. I also fluff the dead mouse's fur, because I'm creepy.
Step 2: Dry the mouse
Snakes drink water from a dish (or in Noodle's case, from my water glasses), so all that water soaking that mouse is not really necessary.
Step 3: Position the mouse
Place mouse into the tank, on a section that is clean and free of substrate. You don't want anything but mouse getting into the snake's mouth.
Step 4: Wash your hands
Snakes do not have the best eyesight. Your wiggling fingers smell like mouse. They will mistake your fingers for mice, and they will try to nom your fingers. That is your own fault, so practice preventative bite care by washing mouse juice off your hands.
Step 5: Remove the snake from your face, where she's been watching you this entire time.
My feeding method might not be for everybody
Step 6: Insert the snake into the equation
Now that you have your snake firmly in hand, place her into the tank directly in front of the mouse.
Step 7: Profit
Noodle is the best snake ever. The end.
Such a cutie. I love her.
