Discipline is one of those funny things in life - it's really easy to talk it up a big game, but once the part where you actually have to implement it on yourself comes along, it's pretty freaking hard.
For me, music has been my discipline tool. Because of how much I wanted (and STILL want) to succeed, I just can't let it go.
I think they key is routine. Figure out a routine with eating and exercise that's right for you, and stick to it. Sometimes it will be really hard, but you have to push yourself to stay with it. There are sooooo many days where I look at my horn and wonder why I subject myself to kissing a twisted piece of metal for two hours every day.
What's my Kilimanjaro-sized obstacle? Getting into the right performance grad school. Only thing that's stopping me is me and my self-doubt about whether or not I'm good enough. Although, they always say that practice, not talent, makes virtuosos.
