Goosebump - ***.5 stars

Here we find a young author showing a lot of promise. Mystery surrounds the reader in the openning lines... and just when the reader gains a sense for what is going on it is yanked away and a gun is not only pointed at the narrator's back, but also at the reader. The story is good, but it seems to be missing a few aspects. I can't wait to read what Anna Sekine comes up with next... I think her maturity is coming.

Gumeye - ***** (perfect rating)

WOW... The latest tale from young Anna Sekine you may remember her from her rookie sensation "Goosebump") is an instant classic. This social commentay will speak to people at all aspects in their lives... from young persons popping bubbles with their chewing gum, to old people who are simply sitting in chairs chewing on their fingers. Fans of this story might also enjoy freebasing crack addiction.

but i think the question that is in all of our minds is, "what happened to gumeye after he got to sixth grade?" anna sekine has been tempting us with promises for a sequel for the past 7 or 8 years, but nothing has come of it. come on, anna. your fans are dying here.
