I guess I should consider never having kids too considering they have the same potential to wreak havoc that a pet does.

Guh, I know how that is. I had a similar thing happen after baking a burnt caramel cake for a history class - it had to be 'original recipe' to the point of grinding flour at an old mill and churning the butter to bring in the ingredients, and it ended up dog food. >.<
