I've been thinking about what I'm going to do career-wise for a little while now. In case I didn't mention it, Natalie and I have disbanded the partnership to take on other commitments. When we do something, we DO it! We don't half-ass things. Hence the feeling of finality when we make decisions.

Things like career and job seem so forever. But so what if we suck at something? We should then go, "Well, guess I should find something else." It'll be farther along than we are now.

Advice I should give myself, too, of course. YOU CAN DO IT.

I can help you with photoshop stuff, as well as photography stuff I learnt in my course. Also James Ottaway is quite good and can help you out. I think it would be a good idea for you to practice doing photography as part of the photography group he is in before you take the plunge of trying it as a full-out business.

I know two people who are professional photographers. One is a twitter-person, Mark Lobo. Unsure how willing he would be to give advice but he's very good, and he did a career switch from doing IT/programming stuff so he might be good to talk about with regards to that. His stuff is here: http://www.marklobo.com.au/

The other person is Leanne Beattie, who I worked with at Education Queensland. She does a lot of fun family/portrait photos and she seems to do fantastic work. She's also super friendly, so I think she would be willing to talk to you about things. Her work is here: http://www.

If you want to talk to Leanne I could arrange for us three to meet up sometime? She always wants to have coffee with me, but I haven't had the time lately! I can ask her if she would want to talk to you if you want?
