Dear Russians

Why are so many Russian lj users adding me? *confused* I can't understand their journals and don't really know why I have become so interesting all of a sudden for the Russian audience?

Yeah, I am not saying all Russian lj'eres are like this, just the ones that added me.

I am fine, thanks, how about yourself?

I have exactly the same type of questions, because they never comment, never say hello, they are just there and I don't understand whay they write, so I really don't see why they would want to friend me.... Hmm.

do we offend them when we delete them off our friends list...?
but it has one good: one of them posted some pics of cute rabbits, J. liked them very much :)

Hehe...

Well, I didn't even add them in the first place.

yeah, it is a common occurence. for instance, many people that journal in languages i don't post in tend to pop out of the Livejournal blue and add me, not even leaving a message or anything. i ceased to bother adding them back. i can actually read Cyrillic alphabet and i know a little Russian, but still any kind of introduction or courtship period would be much appreciated.

Yeah, that is also what puzzles me, the fact that none of them has ever commented on my journal, nor made any attempt to get in contact with me - so I really don't understand why they want to have me on their list. Do they even understand English?

Russians don't add Americans apparently, but they do add a lot of the photo and art communities. Morgan is frustrated because she can't read much of what is posted on a couple of them any more.

Yeah, that has happened too in some of my communities.

I've noticed there have been an exponential flux of Russian users on LJ recently too. Lots of them write in Russian and have their own Russian communities for each English-speaking communities. I think this is largely because of differences of alphabet and the fact that English isn't so commonly taught/spoken around Russia as it has been in other countries for the past 50 years. They probably just appear more "obvious" than Czech, Danish, Japanese users, etc. That's just my take on it though.

For me it is not so much about being Russian or not, more the fact that none of them has ever written anything to me, nor contacted me in any way, so it just seems so pointless to have added me. I mean, I don't understand what they write and maybe they don't understand what I write neither?

Don't get me wrong, I am fine with any nationality using lj, after all it is understandable now that a Russian company bought lj. It's just that I see a pattern now - Russian user adds me and never comments.
