Congrats to roga, queenzulu and l_eremita for correctly guessing that Sebastienne was not the name of one of my Mary Sues. Sebastian is one of my favorite names, though, not to mention the vampire hero in one of the below stories, so it wasn't far off base ( Read more... )

I have been so stymied in my ability to write, my best creative outlet has been vidding -- so it's a real relief to have that back.

I didn't guess in the names poll because I knew I'd be wrong and that would be embarrassing. I think I was torn between Julie and Mitzi though, Mitzi just sounded to cutsy, and Julie too ordinary, as you said.

I always had mary-sues in my head (Aurora was one, speaking of names), but I never really wrote anything until I took P's class in highschool, and by then I knew what mary-sues were (if not by name) well enough to know they were looked down on by lots of folks. I think I only ever started one... a vampire one, naturally.. but never got more than a page with it before I realized what I was doing and stopped.

Hee - that's actually quite a good idea regarding the Mitzi story, but when I hear that name I think porn star/drag queen/something with sequins. *checks* okay, that's because it's the name of Hugo Weaving's character in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. I suspected it was something like that.

I had a thing about 'Michelle', growing up. I thought that was just the most elegant name ever. Or 'Vicki'. Something with more feminine vowels in it than my given name, anyway (yes, I developed a theory and everything) XD

My favorite alter ego names when I was growing up were Linmire (pronounced using Elvish rules of pronunciation, which makes it a three-syllable name) and various Russian names (Natasha, Katyusha, etc.). I got a kick out of the fact that when I took Russian in college, we all used Russian versions of our names. There was no Russian equivalent for my first name, however, so I was dubbed Alexandra Ivanovna by the professor. I grew quite fond of that name. *g*

Edited because I really do know what sex I am. :P
