I haven't discussed penetration issues with my doctor yet, but it's definitely a good idea. I can see this as being a definite problem in the future... One step at a time.

I am a natural-foods natural methods health nut. There are also studies showing that your libido decreases with hormonal birth control, and I don't want to decrease it. I'm not saying these are reasons to never ever go on hormonal birth control. I would do it if I was having a medical problem, but I feel like I am compromising my morals and my body by having hormonal birth control... I don't believe that everyone should do what I do, it's just a personal choice. The fact that my mom got huge tumors and had to have surgeries as a result of her birth control indicated to me that to have hormonal birth control could be a serious health risk down the road for somebody with my genes. However, there are progesterone-only pills which I would be more likely to take.

Do you have information about the effectiveness of condoms? Perhaps condoms combined with Fertility Awareness or Withdrawal would be comfortable for you?

Other than that, all non-hormonal methods involve insertion (diaphragm, IUD, etc).

Well, I have heard that condoms are 92% effective when used correctly, however the numbers vary, and typical numbers are 10-16% pregnancy rate in one year of use. With the most conservative estimate then, 16% failure rate would mean one pregnancy, typically, per 6.25 years. I would not prefer to have a child in the next 6.25 years, and so I would like to lower the odds...
Thank you for your help...

If a gynecological exam/small amount of insertion is problematic, how are you planning on having vaginal intercourse?

I've been on a realtively low dose HBC for over two years now, and haven't had a single adverse side effect, libido or otherwise. Not saying you can't, but it might be worth a shot if an IUD isn't a viable option.

Good point, the truth is I really wouldn't have any idea, from experience anyway. However, I can see this is going to be a problem, and you're right. Okay, thanks for your help. :)
