Aside from hormonal contraceptives, what other options are out there these days? I have tried three different birth control pills (gave each a fair chance, at least 6 months to a year) and all have made me feel pretty crappy, sometimes even depressed. My boyfriend of four years does not want to use condoms because we have been together for so long

Yup, and -- at least in the U.S., where my contraceptive experiences have happened -- it can be even a little tricky then. Diaphragms and cervical caps require an actual fitting, and it's becoming less and less common for providers to keep around the sizing kits. I only had to call 2 places (my GP and my gynecologist) to check to see if they did fittings, but apparently in my city, there are a substantial number of gynecologists (and also GPs, I'd imagine) who don't prescribe diaphragms or cervical caps at all.
