Forgot to take BC this morning

I'm at work right now and just realized that I forgot to take my BC this morning. The soonest I can take today's pill is when I get home around 5:30ish. If I take the pill today and continue as normal (taking the pill when I wake up around 6:30am) will I still be covered or should I use condoms? For how long? It sounds like you'll be about 11 hours late with your pill. You might check OTC's instructions to be sure, but most combined pills (OTC is definitely one of these) don't consider a pill "missed" until it's at least 12 hours late.

Additionally, many combined pills don't require back up protection for a single missed pill, even if yours does end up being 12 hours late.

Because of that, it sounds like your pill's prescribing info would not direct you to use a back up method in this situation. If, however, you felt safer using condoms anyway (which, that falls inside some folks' personal comfort zones), the general recommendation is 7 days.
