Spring 2022 Anime (and Dramas) Update

Jul 21, 2022 18:02

Not that it matters, but here are my thoughts (or feelings) on some of the spring anime I've finished (and dramas I'm still watching LOL).

Anime
Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club - What I like about this Love Live series is how they're not aiming for the Love Live. They just want to perform. Though I did cry (so embarassing!!) when they cheered on the school idol clubs that were trying to qualify for the Love Live. This season there were unit songs which was great. [Spoiler (click to open)]I wasn't really sure if I was okay with the character Lanzhu until episode 9 with the following exchange:

I was like, "Thank you for saying what needs to be said, Mia."

Bought the op/ed single.

Don't Hurt Me, My Healer! - It's silly and amusing, as long as you're easily entertained, which I am. Ended up being one of my favorites of the season.

Love All Play (still going) - I am enjoying this so far. I liked episode 11 enough I told my sister about it.

RPG Real Estate - The fluff I thought it would be, though it got pretty dark there at the end. [Spoiler (click to open)]*Good thing they had that necromancer client!*

Spy x Family - Very funny and entertaining. I loved episode 10 the most. It had the most LOL moments for me.

Deaimon: Recipe For Happiness - Quite a sweet slice-of-life anime. One of my favorites of the season.

Fanfare of Adolescence - To me, this was a kind of an average sports anime and a bit cheap with the story and characters. [Spoiler (click to open)]*I kept waiting for that episode where they'd kill a horse, and it happened.*

Heroines Run the Show - This was cute. Some things kind of ticked me off near the end, but everything ended all right.

Trapped In A Dating Sim - This entertained me. I looked forward to new episodes every week. [Spoiler (click to open)]*It is sad how happy I was near the end when the heroine told the main character that she loved him.* Bought the ending theme.

Older anime I finished during the spring season:
The Aquatope on White Sand - This one was from summer '21. I made sure to finish before the spring season was over. The beginning of the second half of the series was hard for me to get through, but it picked up and I easily finished it. Good.

The Idolm@ster SideM & Wake Atte Mini! - I love this anime so much! I watched it with a stupid grin on my face. I have bought so many CDs, and the Blu-rays of the live concerts. I am obsessed with the lives. It's driving my sister crazy, I know (she's upset at having Café Parade songs stuck in her head - I can't help that, I wake up with Mofumofuen stuck in my head LOL), but it's making me happy right now and, mentally, I need that at the moment.
I wasn't planning to watch this. It wasn't even on my radar, but I bought the 4th live to watch Uchida Yuma in a group setting and in character (yes, that is the main reason I bought the live LOL). Also, this lovely commercial from Lantis' YouTube was included on the shopping page for the live:

So, I was like, "Why not? I'll try it."
I've been buying a bunch of lives where I haven't watched the anime at all, so I decided to watch this anime before the live got here.
I'm at a point where I wouldn't say I love idol-themed anime, but I have watched a lot now and I think I just like the concept of this one - that the idol groups are based on their past careers (or current based on the group). I also love the music. Love it. I am now running out of room to store things in my room again after I specifically bought a bookcase for my anime.
My favorite groups are S.E.M and Legenders. I like all of them, though. Truly, I do.

Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle: Rhyme Anima - I watched this the same week I watched IDOLM@STER SideM.
I was on the fence about watching this. When I read the plot, I wasn't sure, but when I read on Wikipedia Idea Factory was involved, I decided to check it out on Funimation and decided to watch it when I saw the preview picture for episode 5:

"What's going on there?" I had to find out, so watched it. I enjoy episodes featuring Fling Posse and Matenro the most with Fling Posse's music in the anime being my favorite, but Doppo from Matenro's my favorite character. This is one anime where I watched the anime before even purchasing a live, and now I have all the lives you can get. Again, I love commercials:

(Actually, I dislike commercials, but commercials for stuff I like is okay LOL.)
And from watching the lives I've heard more music and have bought it, so I know that I like Bad Ass Temple, Matenro, and Fling Posse's music the most, but I really love all the music.

The Vampire Dies in No Time - Very humorous. I watched the first episode last fall, but with anime last fall I watched the first episode of a couple shows and then decided to take the season off. This was the first one I finished from that season. I could easily watch this one again, which I will have to with my sister because she only saw bits and pieces and needs to see the whole thing.

The Idolm@ster Cinderella Girls (Season 1) - I watched this after I watched SideM and could see how SideM followed the same formula ('cause this anime came first): Debut groups throughout the season and at the end have a big concert. I liked this a lot too. Something I really like about the Idolm@ster series is how it really shows how someone just picks you to be an idol - 'cause they do, there's no rhyme or reason to it.

Hinamatsuri - I LOVE this anime. It gets a 10 from me, though I easily give out 10s LOL. (Seriously, I'm so not picky.) It's hilarious, absurd, and even heart-warming. Watched it twice already. Bought opening and ending themes.

2.43: Seiin High School Boys Volleyball Team - This one was on my radar because I like sports anime and then got bumped up my queue because of the voice cast. It felt pretty fast-paced and I took until the end of episode 11 to decide that I liked it. I did not want to just like it for the cast, so I was highly critical of it and myself. The plot had some interesting twists and I really liked the ending.

Dramas
Nanba MG5 - I've gotten through three episodes of this so far. I'm enjoying it. I'm not sure when I'll finish the rest, though. My hours at work are what I want for the summer, which has ruined my routine of watching dramas in the morning (but I'd rather get home earlier than later). I might not get to finishing this until late August.

Koi Nante, Honki de Yatte Dousuruno? - Two episodes in. Not really feeling it, but I'll try to finish it. Maybe.
