Sorry, I'm responding in English because I'm not well-versed in Bisaya--really sorry. Not to mention I have to apologize since I'm not one who actually thinks about stuff like that (I envy you).

My ideas are very naive, but I always think that the Philippines doesn't have a problem with writing; it's the good writing and the reading. There are so many things that can hinder reading: access to materials, ideas, and others that will eventually emerge as "good writing". But I think we're getting there. Hopefully.

For Filipino--including Bisaya--writers, you might want to visit Ian Casocot's webpage, A Survey of Philippine Literature. He was one of my profs in Silliman University, Negros Oriental, therefore also Bisaya.

I'm sorry that's all I can contribute. The questions you ask are interesting. I hope I can ask my own questions soon, and answer some of yours.

how many cebuana-american women fiction (or heck even creative NONfiction) writers do you know off the top of your head?Well, if all goes well in my life, I'll be a prominent artist, writer, and singer/songwriter who just happens to be Cebuana-American. ;P ( ... )

MARJORIE EVASCO! That's who the poet was. Her collection "Ochre Tones" features poems written in Cebuano, and then "translated back" into English. It's really interesting.

it doesnt matter man siguro if you write in bisaya, english or bisag bisglish as long as the spirit of being BISDAK lives on. you can try the blogs of the http://bisayabloggers.blogsome.com tua didto nag loklok ang mga bisdak writers mga professional writers in cebuano eg mike obenieta, januar yap, jesse cabrera , doc tess (joke lang oi)ug mga bloggers who write in bisaya. Orven enoveso is the lead vocals and author of the blogs of shiela and the insects. we were together sa USC-Cebu STAND party (if your a carolinian, sure ko kadungug naka ani sa campus politics)he can write and speak in bisaya but prefer gihapon niya ang english due to the purity of the language. check his writing exercise at http://sheilaandtheinsects.blogdrive, lingaw pud nga blog.
