Hi! This is difficult! It really depends on you, I think. If you think that Emma would be understanding, why not open up to her about it and she could maybe help you and your crush have more opportunities to meet in a group setting and stuff before you become familiar enough to go out with him alone. It's always nice to have a friend on your side.

I would approach this two different ways - one would be because I want to his friend and the other because I want to be potential date .... If you want to do the friends thing then email or Facebook him saying you really enjoyed his company and would he want to exchange contact info and get to know one another better. If you want to know him romantically and date I would find out if he's "in the market" and then figure out something to do (movie etc) and invite him out.
