The State Of The Union

.... is sicken. I have been feeling this way for quite some time, though I haven't taken the time to write my feelings on the matter. As I get closer to the highly elusive college degree (a few months now), I have been taking more online courses (since they are all GE classes). Excellently put Josh, I could not agree with you more. I have a similar rant on my myspace, but definately not as long. It's so god damn frustrating to watch more people vote for fucking American Idol than those who show up to the polls on election day for the American President. So much time, space, effort is spent on broadcasting the lives of the rich and stupid its sickening... more people around the world have a better understanding of current American politics than most Americans... its seriously frightening....

Anyway, lets continue this rant ... over drinks? Im frickin' 21 fool! fiiiinally, christ.... well call me I lost my phone like 2 months ago along with all my numbers, lets get together friend :-)

I agree with you entirely. Unfortunately the fact remains that the lower classes have no pull against the government because many of them don't have the right to vote or are too apathetic about politics. People have lost the reasons that democracy was built on. The power belongs to the people, not the government. Additionally, and it's extremely unfortunate, people don't know what they truly have until they no longer have it. Democracy is a blessing and is not something easily attainable. We need a commercial and or media revolution.

People wonder why I have anger issues more and more...

Lewis Black tends to handle that stuff - and makes a living off it.

No the biggest enemy to democracy world wide is us. We are supposed to be the World's sole superpower, but how do we chose to use it?

This is why I miss the Soviet Union, whose former ability to destroy America served as a form of global check and balance. Once those Soviets were reduced to mere Russians - bam - America thinks it can do whatever hell it wants.
