I'm completely thrilled with the birthday messages, pics, even a vgift (WHEEEEE!!! Thanks,
chamekke!! \O/ ♥) that I just found waiting for me. Hopefully I'll manage to comment individually on each one, but as you know I'm a bit hit and miss with how much I'm around these days, and I didn't want anyone to be left thinking I'm not absolutely chuffed to bits

Happy Birthday again! Yes, I'm biased and cheerfully admit to it but what a great place to spend your birthday. I can't believe anyone was silly enough to allow it but I sang in that cathedral a few times as a teenager... well, with my choir, but still. *g*
... And the model village, YAY!
*twirls you* ♥

What a lovely venue to sing. My choirmaster in Birmingham has been on about doing an evensong in Gloucester, but until he learns the noble art of proactivity I think it'll have to remain a dream.
The model village was most pleasing - what I liked best was that there was a model of the model village, which had a model of the model, which (if you looked really carefully) had...etc. I really do get quite excited about recursion!

That's always been my favourite bit of the model village as well. *g*

And, oh yeah, the kink/squick meme. It's never too late to join in, the water's warm. (Or ice-cold, if that's your thing ;-)

I had no idea Edward II was there - I've never even been to Gloucester before. It kind of summed up the city for me - a sort of effortless history that just does it for me every time. I'll definitely be going back there.

Ooh! OOH! If you do, then grab a verger and ask him to show you his misericords.
Erm. Really, Gloucester Cathedral has a lovely set of misericords. If you have a taste for medieval vernacular woodwork, that is.
(I'm ridiculously fond of the things, can you tell? Ely and Carlisle Cathedrals also have some rather nice ones, if you happen to be over/up that way.)
