I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist, but when I see things like this I get really, really suspicious. I mean, who could believe that all these fires were the cause of careless cigarettes and backfires in the last two days? I guess it's possible...

Don't forget power lines

At least some of the early fires are being blamed by downed power lines, which is pretty reasonable given that we haven't had a good Santa Ana event in awhile and how many trees/limbs have come down. At least two of them are reported to be under arson investigations, at least one was a car fire that spread.

Only Malibu was blamed on power lines, so that leaves 2 active arson investigations, one car fire, and 16 unaccounted for. I'm just saying....
