[She sighs, a slight tightness at the corner of her mouth.]
I'm sorry to hear you say that. Did you happen to feel this way while I tended to Holmes as he was in the throes of the drugs after that ritual? Or while you held off the ruffians so Holmes and I could disarm Blackwood's device? Or once you heard that I was working under duress?
[Her smile returns with a slight roll of her eyes.]
And I could have. But I would have you know that I'm restraining myself on pickpocketing since a rather unfortunate incident upon my arrival here. See for yourself - your wallet is there.

Perhaps more than an inch, and only so long as you're in my line sight. You complicate things, Irene.
[He closes his journal and sets the pen on it. He's realizing he was being overly harsh but still sticks by his position.]
That was one case that where you were for once on our side. You have strikes against you that will take time to fade and I do hope you will respect my choice until I see fit to trust you any further than as an acquaintence.

[A satisfied smile. She found everything rather simple, but it was amusing to complicate things for Holmes on occasion.]
You are certainly entitled to your opinion, dear. And seeing as you do trust me more than an inch, I shall like a look at your account of affairs, as you promised.
[It hadn't been worded exactly like that, but far be it for her to not try.]

Irene, let me put it this way. Mary, my fiancee has not seen my accounts and we- [A pause because it stings thinking of Mary. Mary who isn't here. Mary who could be dead.] -we were to be married.
I'll allow you to read them someday, but today is not that day.
You are resuming being his Boswell, Doctor?

Is that really any of your business?
[He's also gonna be checking for his wallet the moment she's gone.]

[By the way, checking when she's gone is checking too late ^.~]

[He turns to look at her, frowning most disapprovingly at her.]
I do not trust you an inch. Until you prove yourself worth putting faith in I won't be sharing my accounts with you.

Tell me, Doctor. At what point did the Thor snatch you up?

[Not to say she hadn't been tempted.]

I see. A shame she was not taken with you, but do not give up hope.
[Then the smile is back.] I shall hold you to that promise, Doctor.
