PREPARE FOR A MESS

He immures himself in his work because, these days, he has little else. Every morning he wakes up to a stale pot of coffee because he's forgotten to throw out the old grinds from the night before and it's starting to lose its potency; the dogs are worried and he grins because he knows what to say to assuage them that he'll make it through, this time with less gravestones. He starts to arrive to events on time and he goes home to think and catches himself writing letters to not the dead but the departed and crumples them up and burns them so no one will find out that he thinks more now than he ever has about his past

The Thor was nothing like home. There were things that he never thought he would see, concepts he would have never dreamed of, and people that had so many ridiculous stories to bring in. It was chaotic, it was suffocating, but it was Nils' new home. (It's not like he could fly through space, anyway.) He was growing up and growing older, slowly but surely.

With every day that passed, he was growing farther and farther apart from his sister. She never leaves his mind, and he knows that she never will, but... he wanted to share this with her, too.
