This is so beautiful and so very sad. I forgot how close to true you write, and how powerfully; I'm glad no one is here to watch me cry into my keyboard. I love Trisha, the NICU nurse; they really do need to be so very strong for that job. And Sam's reaction, even going to hell, was the best depiction I've ever seen of what a parent would do at that point; I was most satisfied that he at least got one punch in before God checked out. Then BUSTER...I'm not sure Sam should hug him after saddling such a tiny boy with that name - a welcome funny point when it was all so heavy.
