Do Unto Others-A Biblical Lesson On Civil Rights, QAF-style

Nov 12, 2008 20:07

What is the key issue at stake with marriage equality? It's love, and do unto others as you want others to do unto you. And the all encompassing love of God. Using religion in this is ludicrous, since the Bible clearly states that man is created in his image. And that really, as a nation, we need to move past using the Bible as a valid source of ( Read more... )

You guys did an amazing job with this. Major props to zaipixie for the banners and icons. They're beautiful.

I find it very sad that at the same time we take a major step forward with Obama being elected and a major step backwards with this asinine piece of legislature.

It raises my spirits to see posts like this one.

YOU GUYS ROCK.

this is a thoughtful post and the banners are gorgeous.

i hadn't thought of it until another ljer mentioned it...but when you think of all the money spent on prop 8, it's nauseating. i can't help but think how useful that money could be for struggling families, children without health care and a thousand other more important things than stopping true love.

I completely agree about the money. How about the Mormons spending their millions on helping other rather than depriving others of thei civil rights and telling others who they can love..

I loved this; fantastic job, bitches. :) I'm still devastated over prop 8 passing, so this was a little wonderful to read. I will never lose hope that eventually equal rights will be won, for good, not just for a few blissful months. *Hugs*

Thank you for taking the time to go through this. We too are hoping for equality for all and for love to be celebrated for all.

Ladies, I am truely moved to tears. This whole issue has affected me deeply and I think you for stating the case so eloquently.

The beautiful graphics and Ted's incredible speech to Emmet were the perfect touches to this.

Thank you Bex. The impetus for this was Keith Olberman's speech on CNN and his closing remarks about this book of love...I don't even like Keith Olberman, but cannot deny the truth of what he said.

During his speech I kept thinking of Christians and what is considered to be the Love Chapter 1 Corinithians 13. This was read at my BFF's wedding and I have read it at other weddings. Those words haunted me. People wanting to express their love through marraige, a beautiful wonderful things, and how could those that should defend love, deny it.

She once told me that people are like snowflakes; every one special and unique... and in the morning you have to shovel 'em off the driveway.

I know this is a serious post, but when I heard that the first time I couldn't stop giggling ME TOO...so perfect Deb.

I think we scared a few off with our biblical language...but I hope they can see the point.
