thank you to EVERYONE who donated to the dog rescue of maryland's jacobi fund. jacobi's medical needs were taken care of because you helped!

here's an update for you:

We have met the cost of his medical needs!!! Jacobi will have his surgeries on August 5th. He has a 47.5% chance of total recovery, 47.5% chance of staying the same, and a 5% chance of being worse. Jacobi also has a very serious hernia which is being repaired at that time. He is a strong boy and wants to live, and he has been given that chance. The bad news is the break has healed so they cannot actually repair that but to relieve the compression on the spinal cord they will remove the top portion of his back bone which will form a 'throth' for his spinal cord to lay in. The spinal cord is protected by what it is encased in so there is no risk of injury to it. The hernia was actually a much bigger medical concern at this point because his intestines were going through the rip. Over the wk he has been with me his right testicle has grown to three times larger then the left...very serious. It is because of the hernia it was decided to admit him for surgery on the 5th rather then waiting for me to get back. He will be spending a few extra days at the vets as a boarding patient and I will be picking him up on the 13th (the 12th if I get home early enough!!).

When I called to check on him today he was curled up in a ball sleeping! I will be in contact with the office MANY times during the day and night checking on him, and Kim and Ruthie will be paying him a few visits...THANK YOU ladies!

He's not out of the woods yet so PLEASE keep him in your thoughts and prayers...we want that 47.5 % chance of full recovery!!!!!! I will post when I hear how the surgery went.

"throth" = "trough"? I dunno. obviously the surgery has happened since this update, so I'll keep checking in and keeping you updated.
