The roommate of a friend of mine got dooced of a sort, and she even wound up in the local media complaining about it. Thing is, we're an employment at will state and she said things that might, just possibly (by an idiot), be considered threatening so out she went.

sometimes I think I should be more careful, because they can and perhaps do monitor everything I do on the internet here at work. But, well, I'd be sad and angry to get fired, but also kind of relieved.

Yep, same here too. I'd be hysterican and panic-stricken, but... yeah.

And in the long run, I think this is going to be best for the dooced one, because it may be just the kick-in-the-ass needed to find something better. Which shouldn't be too hard, given that she's got a degree and 10 years of customer service experience.
