About the name "Jin"...

Jul 22, 2009 13:05

You all know how to pronounce "konnichiwa" in Japanese, right?

Kon-knee-chee-wa

The "i" letter stands for the sound "ee." Naturally, this system of pronunciation carries over into other words, which leads me to....

PSA: Jin is pronounced "jean/gene," not as "gin."

I promise.

If you really need more assurance, check out the 45 second mark of this clip.

Wait--there are people who don't pronounce "Jun" like the month of June? :O IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO RHYME WITH 'GUN,' PEOPLE.

Also, the Jin thing hit me early on. I still call him 'gin' in my head though. XD

ahaha at least you figured it out! apparently there are a lot of ppl who don't know yet, which kind of pains me. imho, if someone is involved in a japanese fandom, they should make the effort to at least pronounce their names correctly!
it's like somebody calling hermione from harry potter "her-me-own"

Oh I can't say Ryo's name right either. My boyfriend makes fun of me for my Ryo/Ryu pronunciation D:
In fact, if I met anyone in Japan named Ryo, Ryusuke, etc, I would call them by their last name or whip out "Senpai"
I kind of want to be famous in Japan to see if people butcher my name as much as Ryo's.

(ALSO, you still haven't said anything about that autograph thing. i just remembered it recently so don't think i forgot. *shifty eyes*)
