33 Apocalypse Ave., Sunday Morning

Sep 06, 2015 08:29

To go by the dance the day before, half of creation had come back to the island for the weekend. Jack decided to ignore the paranoid edge niggling at him about how that was just asking for the island to get into one of its nastier moods in favor of getting a nice breakfast together. Ronan was staying for the weekend, as was Emma (of course), and he ( Read more... )

"Are we sure you aren't precognitive?" Emma asked as she came downstairs, fully dressed if still slightly sleepy. "Because this is perfect."

Well, almost perfect. She disappeared into the kitchen for a moment to make up a few pop-tarts to go with her coffee and bagels. She needed a sugar kick to be civilized before noon on a Sunday.

"Maybe I am," Jack said, grinning at her. "It'd be a useful power to suddenly spout, wouldn't it?"

He rose to kiss her cheek. "Hi, darling. Did you have a good time at the dance?"

"I still can't get Alex to dance," she commented wryly, accepting the kiss. "My wiles clearly need work."

"Triela is here," and Emma closed her eyes to shut out the pain of knowing she was going to lose her roommate -- again -- to a pointless death. "And Ino may be coming by later for a telepathic conference, so don't be too scandalized if we vanish together."

"Alex never did know what was good for him," Jack teased, and helped himself to some more coffee before he spoke again. "I'm sorry about Triela, but I won't mind seeing INo.I never got to know here very well but she always seemed interesting."

After leaving Hannibal's place, Ino didn't head straight back to to the hotel, though it was tempting because zombies were gross and gremlins were no better, but instead, made her second stop of the day.

She rang the doorbell and waited, keeping an eye out for anything that might try and bite her.

Ino had enough problems these days without being zombiefied for a while, thanks.

Jack peeked out the window before opening the door to let Ino in. (Or at least,he thoughtit was Ino -- he'd never known the girl well, and there definitely something that had changed about her eyes and bearing since he saw her last.)

"Ino, right?" he said. "Emma mentioned you might stop by. It's been a thousand years."

Ino looked startled for a moment, and then laughed.

"I'm going to assume you don't mean literally, for the sake of all the timelines," she said lightly. "Though it's been a while. I'm Ino, and you're... Jack, right?"

"Not meant literally at all, I promise," Jack laughed, stepping out of the way to gesture her in. "I've been here on and off for six years. It just feels like a thousand."

Ronan wandered down at some not-ungodly hour of the morning, making a beeline for the bagels. He passed on the smoked salmon, though.

"Thanks," he said, smiling at Jack, after biting, chewing, and swallowing his first mouthful. "This looks awesome. And for once I'm not cooking."

Emma just pointed in the direction of the coffee because: food. << Of course not, and he is amazing in many ways, but it should be reiterated regularly.>>
