Bala sharks can get to 14 inches and they are quite the aggressive fish, did you know?

But if Marius is in a tank without a filter and it's under 5 gallons i wouldn't get him a "friend," that and male bettas are very aggressive as well and will either kill a smaller fish or the smaller fish will eat his fins. =/

Hey, just cause you know some things about animals, doesn't mean you know EVERYTHING. We talked to a lot of people and researched a lot about getting betta fish "friends," as you referred to it as. A lot of betta fish are happier living with community fish instead of by themselves in a small tank, and I'm sure as lola already mentioned, the tank is 10 gallons with a heater, and a filter.

Skank, god damn.

I still can't get past the fact that you would think we would stick three fish together in a tank under 5 gallons without a filter. It makes me wanna punch you a little, srsly.

I did know. Petsmart and Petco recommended that we get the "semi-aggressive" community fish so Marius wouldn't "find them a target." Also since his fins are very tempting to other fish, we decided against getting anything that wasn't going to be too peaceful.

We also got him a 10 gallon tank and a filter before we even got the fish. They ignore each other. In fact I've seen them swim right up to each other and no reaction other than initial curiousity. And I haven't had any problem with any fighting or aggressiveness.

Although male Bettas DO fight with each other and are territorial, Marius hasn't made any effort to attach any of the other fish, other than to try to steal a few of their flake food. I've been keeping an eye on them, and wouldn't have even considered getting any other fish if I thought there was a slight chance of them being in danger.

And, don't worry, I've researched each fish and watched them; I wouldn't get new fishes if I were stupid enough not to take care of them properly.
