I'm doing NaNoWriMo too, but I've got a lot of catching up to do! I'm only at 7000 words. :( I'm so not doing research, just freeform writing. This is my first attempt at fiction since, oh...1994? :D So I'm just winging it. I figure that, if it ever becomes Something Viable -- my husband, who's co-writing with me, wants this to become a script for a graphic novel -- I'll go back and do a LOT of editing, research and cleaning up.

Are you on the Nanowrimo website? You can buddy up with me there, if you'd like -- my username is colorista!

Nothing wrong with only being at 7000! There's still time to catch up. I'm not doing any hardcore research. My research mostly involves Googling something quickly. I'm sure my novel also needs editing and cleaning up which (hopefully) will happen after November.

I'll look you up on Nanowrimo site!

Unfortunately, I tend to find doing research on the Internet often turns into procrastination. But there is a lot of good material available online; between Wikipedia, the public domain texts available free on Google Books, and Jane Austen/Regency romance fansites I've been able to find a lot of specific details for my Regency Era story, including lyrics to popular songs, recipes, and even the weather on specific dates.

Yeah, it can definitely turn into procrastination. I'm supposed to be writing right now, and clearly I'm not. I'm glad you've been able to find information for your story though!
