Traveling Solo

This past September I went to the beach (Cape May, NJ) for a few days. I went all by myself. I'm sure I could have found someone to go with me if I'd really wanted company, but I chose to go by myself. Several people expressed surprise when they found out I was traveling alone. I pretty much do everything alone, even road trips. It would be nice to have company sometimes. Other times, I don't mind being by myself.

I've done some road trips alone too. Usually I'm just fine being alone. As you said, occasionally I wish I had company but not always.

I think it's a great thing to experience and it's too bad some people find themselves unable/unwilling to ever try it. It probably is something of an introvert thing. It sounds like your trip to the beach was very nice!

Last May I traveled alone to Washington DC by bus to attend a rally, and was very nervous (it was my first time traveling out of state alone). Ultimately it was a great experience, though, and I even made a friend on the bus and she explored DC with me. Because of the lovely time I had, I'll be excited when I have the opportunity to do something like that again.

I agree that it's a great thing to experience. I'm glad your trip to DC was good! I did have a very good time at the beach, except when it rained.

I tend to do better wandering alone once I already have a reason to go someplace (ie: "Yeah, I'll carpool to St. Louis with you! I can fly home from there instead...")
