This is an extraordinary fic. The pain and resentment is visceral and not cliched in any way. And that you have managed to convey such a complicated situation over several years with great economy... well, it's startling. I love your loose, confident strokes of characterization here, as well as your effortless folding of Beth and Maeve into fan canon without trivializing them.

This is an instant classic for me. I'm going to fold it up and carry it around with me to remind myself of how to do it right. Thanks for posting and welcome.

I'm glad that this fic worked for you! While editing, I felt like a lot of these scenes could be easily expanded but I didn't want to because that I felt like that wasn't the *point* of this fic, so I'm really glad this worked for you!

PS: I've come across some of your work on AO3 while searching for Hotch/Reid fics to read (and to get a feel of the fandom) and I've marked them to be read as soon as possible because they look very promising. So it's definitely more of an honor to get your feedback! :-)

I admire those who can edit efficiently (I can't), so I'm always trying to take notes from writers who manage to convey a lot without droning on for paragraphs.

This is a pretty quiet fandom so its important to say what you think as it might be the only conversation you get! At least over on AO3 you can get some perspective through hit counts... There are plenty of good CM fics out there but it takes some digging to find them. Are you strictly a Hotch/Reid 'shipper, or do you read other things as well?

I'm pretty ok reading fics about Reid/anyone, but I appreciate/respond to Hotch/Reid the most. I did find some very good fics out there, but unfortunately, I'm not a fan of 'Reid gets broken down and tortured in unbelievably cruel ways' so that eliminates a lot.

I used to be pretty active in House M.D. and a couple of other fandoms but then real life happened for a while there. I thought I would try out fandoms of other shows I like, and so far I'm having fun just exploring fics and getting new perspectives on old episodes.

Well, I did sign up for CM bigbang in an effort to write more Hotch/Reid, so if everything goes well, there should be more to read! :-)

I am a huge Hotch/Reid fan and I really enjoyed this fic. It is amazing and wonderful how much you packed into so few words. I agree that is was very original and non-cliched. Fabulous work!
