general weakness

On Saturday a woman I work with was offering a free yoga class in my neighborhood so I went to it.

I have reached the conclusion that I’m weak.  It’s actually pretty pathetic.  I walk for at least 45 minutes every day so you’d think I’d be in okay shape but I seem to have no upper body strength.  Since the class I’ve been trying to do a few ( Read more... )

Hehe - me too, when it comes to upper body strength. But yoga is a good way to develop it. I find plank harder to hold than down dog, though.

Doing some yoga poses every day sounds like a good idea.

And I'm sorry about The Artist's Way. If you're too distracted by getting ready to move, maybe it's better to wait until you move.

I can't even attempt the the plank at this point through I have been able to hold the upward dog for a brief time. I really wanted to complete the Artist's Way program but with all the moving stuff going on I've really lost my focus. Also I've been doing a lot more socializing lately, which I think is positive even though it takes the focus off introspection and artistic stuff...

Huh. I guess this is a case of schadenfrauden at your expense (did I even spell that right) but this makes me feel a little better about the generally awful state of my physical fitness. I can do a decent plank, just not for long, and I feel it in my abs and back as well as my arms and shoulders.

I have a strange body. I can arm wrestle a guy with arms twice the size of mine into submission but I can't do a push up. It's pretty pathetic.

What's great about yoga is, it takes you where you are. In my class they always say that if you are attempting the posture correctly, you are receiving 100% of the benefit, no matter how far you are from the ideal expression of it. If it makes you feel judgemental about yourself, that's not necessary. It's good to do whatever you do.

It takes time to build that up. Don't knock yourself. *hug*
