putting books in boxes

Packing up my books.

So many books too pack.  I’m sort of awed at the amount I’m accumulated in the past six years.  I’ve been able to weed out some but there’s a lot I can’t part with-my copies of the Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia and His Dark Materials series, Angela Carter, Lovecraft, Maurice Sendak, stuff on women ( Read more... )

books, family

The bookstore chain Powell's lets you sell books to them on their website. You put in the ISBNs and they give anywhere from like fifty cents to a few dollars if they want them, then send you a shipping label -- if that knowledge is worth knowing...

Regardless, best wishes on the move. Books have been the toughest challenge every single time I've moved.

Thanks for letting me know about Powell's. Might be a good way to get rid of some of my discards (I've got a pretty big pile).

Books are definately going to be the bulk of my estate for this move. I'm getting rid of all my furniture, my car and a lot of clothes but I just can't part with most of my books, CDs and DVDs.

Yeah, with me it was Screw the Roses, Send me the Thorns when my mom came up to help with my newborn daughter. She took it into her head to help clean up...I don't think I've ever seen a faster, smoother pass than the underhand slide-of-book from my husband to me to under the bed when her back was turned.

A person's value is in direct relation to the amount of books they accumulate. :-)

See, if it were me, that's a book I'd put Right On Top.
