Last night my former employer Biff took me out to Lula Cafe, a Logan Square restaurant, for a farewell dinner. I had a really good meal and a really good time.

It really was. I do admit sometimes I find myself wondering if having a child wouldn't be a way to find a way outside of myself.... however I can't risk that. It's very possiable I would have a child and be as self-conscious as ever and that the little person would suffer. I just can't risk that.

It sounds like you're great with children, though. Have you considered training to work in a nursery/day care centre?

That's a good feeling, isn't it? When I was younger and my kids were Julian's age, I liked to spend parties sometimes hanging out with the preschool set. It's kind of restful, and also a sort of gift, to have the will and desire to enter their world and not find them a bother.

It really is. I've always thought of myself as a sort of cold, remote control freak, but I really had a great time with Julian, feeding him from my plate and just watching his reaction to everything. It was amazing.
