I’ve spent most of my free time over the past couple days messing about with my new computer’s DVD burner. I’ve never had one before but since I dislike watching video on my computer I’m never happy to have it. At least you have BBC America, here in South America there nil options for fans of British television like me. All cable channels are mostly dominated by US shows and the few British shows are well hidden jewels (Torchwood at 3 AM on Wednesdays, or The IT Crowd at 1 PM on Saturdays, for example). I have been thinking on getting a DVD burner for a while, but at the moment cash is rather low and other priorities are above.

Speaking of Sherlock Holmes movies, theres a Brazilian movie called O Xangó de Baker Street, a rather amusing Sherlock Holmes pastiche I saw a while ago, in case if you're interested:

I haven't seen The IT Crowd but I'm a big fan of Torchwood.

The Brazilian Sherlock Holmes film looks really interesting, especially the use of Sarah Bernhardt as a character-- I've always been fascinate by her. I love to see the pop culture of one country interpreted b another.

It's fascinating to see how the very same historical characters can get re-interpreted. The weirdest one I can think of is Ernest Hemingway helping left-wing vampires against nazi uber-vampires and Italian goblins in Vampires in Havana 2.
