oops...ouch

I had a bit of unexpected (and unwanted) excitement yesterday. I cut two fingers on the blade of the paper cutter at work. I had to go to the emergency room where I waited for over an hour reading American Psycho as I held a piece of bloody gauze over my wounds. I ended up having to get three stitches on the little finger of my right hand as ( Read more... )

Ouch! That's a nasty cut.

I've waited even longer than that in an emergency room when my daughter had abdominal pain, but to be actively bleeding for that long seems wrong.

Glad your job seems to be going well though.

Thanks. For some reason emergency rooms around upstate NY are really slow. I always got in faster in Chicago.

Ouch! My fingers feel for you. They're the worst place to get a cut of any sort, pain-wise.

Congrats on the incrased hours.

Thanks. It really hasn't hurt too badly except for an occasional jab of pain when I move my finger wrong.

Ouch! Hope it's alright now, I had some stitches in my foreheard earlier this year and I know it's no fun at all.

I'm okay, at this point it just aches a little and I can't really bend the little finger on my right hand which is a pain in the neck for typing. How'd you manage to get wounded in the forehead? I had to get six stitches over my eye about 16 years ago when my little brother accidentally hit me in the face with a golf club (I was being his caddy and stood too close).

I was really ill, my blood pleasure when dangerously low and I fainted in the bathroom, when I woke up I found out I had knocked down the sink with my forehead.

When I was a child, I slippered on the McDonald's playground and struck my head on the same place, so now I have to scars, one on the top of the other, over my left eyebrow.

Oh yes, and I got shot when I was 14; the bullet went through my leg without touching bone nor nerves, I was lucky, fat legs helped me for once.

That's awful. I've passed out a couple times (especially back when I was anorexic) but luckily I never injured myself falling.

How did you get shot?

Hope your fingers are doing okay!!

Oh man, American Psycho. That book and I have a history and not in a good way. Way back when I was 17 and innocent and in love with the tall dark and mysterious 18 year old bass player, he looooooved that book, so I undertook to read it, and was quite promptly grossed out and gave it back. It should have been a sign really, but I kept dating him for 5 years and that did not end well, let me tell you. I don't know what I would think of it now, honestly - seeing as I've seen/heard/read things on par with it, disturbance wise, but I'm still disinclined to read it just because it reminds me of him and he was such a douche.

Thanks.

I tried reading American Psycho back when I was a freshmen in college (1990 or 1991) and it freaked me the hell out. I was too disgusted to finish it. During the many years since I've gone through periods where I've subjected myself to the most extreme violent movies I can find so I'll see if I'm any better at handling the gore.

It's hard to disassociate douche bag ex's from the things they like. My ex introduced me to Nick Cave's music and I really had to struggle to get to the point where I could listen to it again without associating it with him.
