I’m going to try to get in the habit of posting again. Rather than trying to catch up right away I thought I’d start small and just talk about some of the things that are going on with me right now ( Read more... )

It's not always the case, but some high school musicals are very well done. I saw a high school version of Les Miz that was better than the Broadway touring production.

I'm glad you're enjoying your outings with Hans, and I look forward to hearing more about what your life is like these days.

Thanks so much. I'm going to try and post more often and keep in touch. I've really let things slid lately, I guess I'm a little confused by being in a relationship and other things (more on those later). I got an e-mail from you quite a while ago that I never replied to. I'm really sorry about that. I meant to respond but didn't quite know what to say and the next thing I knew so long had passed that I was embarrassed... Basically I'm very sorry I didn't reply and I thank you for your interest in my life and value your friendship.

Honora is opening in the high school's Les Mis tonight. She says it's really top-notch; your entry give me hope!

Nice to hear from you.

I've seen Broadway level shows in
Chicago (Wicked, Mary Poppins) but there's no question in my mind that high school productions can be every bit as good. I've seen some amazing shows in the auditoriums of rural Upstate NY over the years.

Good luck to Honora, I hope it goes well. I've never seen Les Mis but I've read it's quite a show.

Damn, I have always been jealous how high Americans put education and arts compared to Venezuelans. For me, there were never school plays except nativity and passion plays.

But I understand the odd glances, I rewatched Amadeus recently and I can't stop signing over and over Don Giovanni's bit:

Don Giovanni, a cenar ceto
M'invitasti e son venuto.

I dunno, the drama of passion plays would have been just my thing when I was in high school....

I love the movie Amadeus. I first watched it way back when it was in the theaters. A few weeks later we adopted a stray cat that showed up at our house and I named him Amadeus in honor of the movie. Mozart is one of the few classical composers I can really get into.

Except the only ones allowed to do the passion plays where those in sixth grade for the rest of Elementary school kids. I always hated myself a bit for not raising my hand when they asked
out who would be interested.

I go to a small college, and a friend of mine goes to a big university in Caracas. And she's always telling me about their film club and weekly campus plays. I really, really wish to have something like that. At the moment I am struggling to found a college film club, but I suspect the staff is stalling me.

For some reason the fact you're into Mozart doesn't surprise me. :)
