Okay so let me make sure I understand: My story is nowhere near word count, and I was going to come here to get your email you saying I was dropping out, but I read this.

Do I still turn it in to you, where it's at, and then I have an extra month to get it to 20,000 words?

I'm still gonna write a bit today/tomorrow, to get it closer. But I want to make sure I'm reading this right.

Also - what about people who have already dropped out because they weren't gonna be to 20,000 by tomorrow? Do they get a chance to come back in as an author because you changed the rule?

I made this exception for the participants who were close to the goal but just needed that last bit of time to complete it, so I wouldn't say I'm granting an extra month if you're nowhere near the word count, no. I guess it's a balance. If you know for sure that you can get your story both completed and edited in time for November 30th, then go ahead and send it in.

Writers can definitely come back if they want to, but the ones who have dropped out were mainly a couple of weeks ago, not two days before the deadline.

I'll have to think about it then. I'm a little over 6,000 words, and I was just going to drop out because, honestly, I've been forcing myself to write to make word count, and the quality of my writing is diminishing because of it. I could say, effectively, my story is done with one more scene, and then the rest of it would be fluff filler, so I don't know.

Hi, you rock! I don't think giving people a little more time is at all unfair!

I just wanna fix a couple of things that got massively changed later, and I'll send mine tomorrow! (There will be places marked [and then this happens], but you shall have it.)

::twirls:: Yay!
