Up and down, both physically and emotionally. I went to the funeral home/graveyard today to make "arrangements" and realized I should have done it years ago, when it would have been fun for my Goth-y little heart. But it was a little too real. Having said that, it was straight-forward process and huge to have it off our minds.
"I'm sorry" is precisely the correct response! It's looking for the most flawless and original statement of comfort that can get one into trouble.
I want people to treat me as they always have--let's talk about charitable acts and celebrity gossip and the nature of God--there is nothing more natural than what I am going through.

Dearest Mary, I have been unforgivably remiss. I am only finding out now. I'm writing this here, more for myself than for you, I suppose, because now that you are gone from this limited, limiting plane of existence, you know Everything. Not that you didn't already know a hell of a lot more than most people while you were here. I will remember and admire you forever, brilliant, strong, talented, generous, laughing, loving, living Mary.
Oh dear God, she's gone??? When? This news hurts so much. She was so amazing, so strong and such a wonderful friend. You will be missed Mary, so very very much.
