Do you have sore throats, by any chance?
When I was a little girl, I got hives with strep throat.

I don't. I don't think Leila does, but I haven't asked her for a few days. She had a sore throat last week, before she got the fever.

Hives are not that uncommon after a virus. I hope that's all it is!

Chicken pox? Although those bumps are usually on the belly, more than the hands. It sounds like you got whatever she got though.

I checked the Almighty Internet re: chicken pox. I've already had them, and she's been vaccinated for them, and our symptoms are kind of an "eh" match for what I'm reading & the pictures I'm seeing. The hives aren't itchy, and they're not filled with fluid. They're just there. Weird.

I wondered briefly if she had a breakthrough infection of chicken pox, because quite a bit of what she has seemed to fit the description. But a couple of major things don't fit the description, the main one being the hives don't look or act like chicken pox. Got a call in to the doctor, waiting to be called back...
