I ummm'ed and ahhh'ed about mentioning to anyone that I was keeping a journal, but I wanted to easily explain more computer time so I mentioned it to the man, and that was that. Fast forward to this afternoon. We were talking to a guy at work, let's call him Guy, and we touched on the fact that the man plays computer games with some other people

Why don't you set your journal to friends only then? That's what I finally ended up doing. I can't stand knowing I'm out in the open for people to read.

Guy then proceeds to take the piss out of me and people who keep logs in general. "I mean, who do you think reads it anyway?" he asks....

Some people just don't get it. It's about the community; having a place to blow off steam or (excuse the phrase) scream at the top of your lungs and people to support and justify your feelings.

I'm with Britt. Just post your personal entries as "friends only" and the rest of the stuff (surveys and shit) as public.
