Stevie definitely had the Elvis/Buddy Holly schtick going. it's good to have another strong personality to offset Stuart. I want to be in a 9-pice band!

Stevie really is a great guitarist too - he has really good ideas about what to play, though he rarely shreds in an Atkins-like manner.
The charisma surprised me too, last time - Stuart's a funny one. By what I understand of him in the bio I've got, he suffered from fairly severe glandular fever/chronic fatigue, and it really changed him as an individual. Before that, he was a fairly standard sports and Iron Maiden loving kind of Scotsman, and after the fever, it's suddenly all Felt and the Velvet Underground. He's justified their more recent louder, poppier direction as him being more well these days, and less into the twee thing. The charisma was a funny thing, too...I think partly it was that the crowd hung onto his every word, but the charisma was also the result of obvious intelligence and intensity and sense of humour.

Alex and I did a similiar thing too, trying to pick people who were going to be seeing belle & sebastian that night. it was pretty funny, and i think we were spot on every time. not that i can talk, cos i'm pretty sure i look like an indie nerd most of the time.
