Arriving to depart

I hate the airport. Even the people that work there hate it. You can see it in their expressions when you ask a question. It’s as if you insulted their mother then said their haircut looks stupid. The airport is the epitome of uncomfortable. It’s cramped, hot, loud, smelly and unpredictable. I hate the airport.

In a cultural geography class I took we studied airports. They're designed to be uncomfortable, florescently lit places of movement -- subconcious signs that tell you "you don't belong here - no you cannot live here - this is for coming and going only, move on"

I particularly enjoyed watching "The Terminal" after this.

What do you think of the Mall then?! (also studied)

I loved the Terminal! I do think it was absurd that he could learn english so quickly living there but other than that Tom Hanks and Stanley Tucci alone made that movie fun.

Very good points. They want you comfortable enough for your stay but not so much that you'd want to be there for any length of time because Airports don't close. I wonder how long someone could actually stay in an Airport without being really noticed.

Mall's would make me think it would be closer to a Casino then an Airport. They want you there, but again not forever because they do close. But I guess the closing aspect isn't really a factor because airports can't really close because of the constant flow of traffic. Mall's do close because nobody shops at 4am.
