So I talked to a mortgage guy yesterday. We qualify (pending some actual documents) for a nice pre-approval. A pre-approval that would give us a decent range of options in this area if we can find a house we like ( Read more... )

Better you than me :) Condo, I'd buy...house - never again.

My only suggestion would be to wait until you see what the economy is going to do..it would suck to buy a house and then have MTI do what it did 6 years ago and fire all but 5 employees.

*laugh*

I know how you feel about a house, and maybe I'll get there one day....right now I'm sick of having neighbors on the other side of the wall.

I've been thinking a lot about the economy. From everything I can see, MTI is doing pretty damn well. At very least I haven't seen any signs of it slowing down. As to waiting, I'm never sure how long to wait with stuff like that. Bad things can happen at any time....that said, I'm certainly trying to pay attention b/c the last thing I want to be is in over my head.

*shrug* But I'm me, and you're you. :) As we've said many times. :)

*nod* You might want to ask Levi how many clients MTI has, and how many are in the pipeline...in other words, if there are jobs lined up for the next year, you're probably golden. The amount of work going on now is less important than the pipeline, and no one will tell you directly, so you'll have to get data to support a position.

Also, not trying to talk you out of a house at all, I think you'll really enjoy it :)

yeah, from what I can tell along those lines I should be golden. :)

And I know you're not trying to talk me out of a house - just expressing my difference in opinion. Who knows, it might suck and I might come around to your way of thinking....or I might slip further into the concept of a suburban kinda guy.

If nothing else, it will make for a fun adventure. :)

Anecdotal story from someone not living in a house:

Last night, I found myself standing outside the apartments of my upstairs neighbors feeling the wall for vibrations because I couldn't figure out which one was playing the obnoxiously loud music and not wanting to bang on the wrong person's door at 2am.

I am full of hate, and will be until I have had a decent night of sleep.

All I can say is good luck with the house search.

I know that feeling. Usually once or twice a week there is a faint humming and from one of our walls as someone watches a movie at much too high volume. The bass cuts through everything....if they did it super late I would complain, but its usually done by my bedtime.

But: it another reason that I want a house.....other than the fact that I've ALWAYS wanted my own house. *grin*

I'm excited that I get to house search now. :)

To add to the fun, this morning at 3am someone started banging on my door trying to deliver a pizza. I fear I was quite mean to him. I wonder if it was an honest mistake or the upstairs neighbor seeking revenge for me wanting peace and quiet.

I'm so excited for you and Chris! Jimmy and I found an awesome realtor when we were engaged that helped us look for exactly what we wanted. Just some advice to take into consideration that we found out later after purchasing ( ... )
