I just found this today, and it is amazing! So many Gabriel-centric fics make him too sentimental or too jokey, but this walks the line between both beautifully. It feels like a softer version of the Gabriel than we get in the show (which, again, fits in perfectly given that he's only just left/run away), but not unreasonably sappy.
