Small ticket

A curious thing I noticed last night: leaving aside investments, the most expensive single thing I've ever bought was my HP LogicDart, at a shade over five hundred pounds, back in 1999. I surprises me rather that I've managed to reach the age of 31, and a faintly ludicrous salary, without ever buying anything really expensive.

Wow, is that it? Aren't you virtuous :-).

Most of the things that I've bought that cost more than that were holidays. Are you counting those?

I was only counting things, which required that the purchase be of basically a single physical object, which did't include holidays (of which mine are usually lots of little purchases anyway), rent, or utility bills.

Ah, well, a ticket for a holiday can be a single physical object :-).

I don't know about tickets for entire holidays, but in my experience travel tickets formally remain the property of the issuer, for all that you may have temporary possession of them. Thus, whatever you're paying for when you apparently buy a ticket, it's not the physical ticket itself.
