okay, quick question camera people... when do you shoot in RAW? do you only use RAW for special stuff, portraits, etc or do you use it all the time? also, what do you use to work with them once you download them ( Read more... )

RAW - all the time now!
except at some of my friend's parties where people don't care & just want snapshots & want them the next day, then i'll shoot JPEG.

I use Photoshop CS3, sometimes Lightroom.

coooool. i think i'll have to give it a go. i've been apprehensive because of space issues, but i guess that's what i've got the external HD for. :D

yah, at first i didn't get what was the big deal about RAW, especially since the processing would take so long.... but there is SO MUCH you can do with it. read up on it if you can so you can really learn the difference between the two & how/why RAW is so much more powerful ( ... )

maybe you got the answer you were looking for, but with the tilt shift (and any time where bokeh/blurry backgrounds are desired) it will have more of an effect when shooting a longer lens and/or larger aperture/smaller f-stop.

as for raw, i usually dump my photos after a big day of shooting so i'm left with plenty of space. in this case, i shoot both raw and jpeg.
then, depending on how much i'm cropping/enlarging, i'll use either jpeg or raw.
raw will have sharper properties than jpeg when you look closely.

i use lightroom to upload my pics and photoshop cs4 to crop, adjust white balance, boost vibrance, and save for web.
