I've only been able to watch the first two games of the Western Semis piecemeal since I'm still working on projects at home.  I really was all prepared to come on here though and rant about how much of a colossal bonehead Raffi Torres was for his hit on Jarret Stoll in game 1.  I didn't see the hit at the time, but I was automatically assuming it ( Read more... )

There is zero consistency when it comes to discipline or rules enforcement in the NHL. Zero. It makes the game, the sport, tougher to watch as a casual fan.

Doing shit like putting Brendan Shanahan and his homemade videos in charge of suspensions of players is ruining the sport.

As far as that Raffi Torres hit, after watching Shanahan ego-inflating video, I'm convinced that Shanahan is blind, deaf, and dumb. The NHL needs to dump him. But it won't happen. And they will continue to pander to those who want to sassify the sport.

With a human element in the decision-making chain (ref) there's always room for ambiguity and bad calls. Although their reactions/overreactions in some situations are seriously baffling.
