Between feeling usy, bored, and like i don't have enough time in a day to do everything i want to do, LJ has fallen by the wayside. Still, here is my best attempt at briefly catching up:

¶ I survied another tax season at $DAYJOB. Now, I'm catching up on things we haven't had a chance to do otherwise. It's always tough starting the first month because you have to carry over information from the prior year, but it's all easier from there. I've also put two of our clients into our computerized bookkpeeing software. That's making it a lot easier for me to print reports and have the information I need for quarterly and year-end reports.
I don't know if i should chuckle or scream to know that one of the lights burned out in my office... but the fixutre was installed in a way that it can't be removed as-is. I found this out after the cover that kept the lamps hiden broke on me. Oh well. Never a dull moment, huh?
¶ If I didn't come out and say it here, my third season as a basketball official ended this winter. It was a very big year for me as I officiated in a league in which I'd been wanting to officiate. This meant that during the winter, I was officiating 3-4 days a week. In adidtion, I officiated my first two high school varsity basketball games. Both were blowouts on the scoreboard and relatively easy to officiate. But, I'm looking forward ot next year and hoping to get a few more varsity games as well. That said, I sitll enjoyed the middle school and CYO games I officiated as well. I'm definitely looking forward to next school year.
I'm also debating umpiring softball next year. My one basketball assignor was so gung-ho about me umpiring, he wanted to assign me this season. I had to let him know that: (1) due to tax season, my availability would be limited; (2) I don't even have any umpiring gear/uniforms yet; and (3) i blocked off my entire spring schedule. Still, i think I'd like to try it next year just to see if it works and so long as he'd be ok with my limited availability. Otherwise I might just register and stay inactive as I do now as i do it mainly for the yearly ule books and rule changes. that's necessary since the hometown's high school sponsors a softball tournament (I've probably mentioned here before) and I'm the head of the protest committee... meaning I have to be current with the rules should i ever have to adjudicate a protest.
¶ Kickball season is 2/3 over already. We're 3-0-1 so far. Individually, I'm not doing too well offensively, but I can accept that, especially since opposing teams know i'm limited in terms of offensive ability. Still, the team has done well withbig wins over two of the better teams in the league this season. I'm a bit disappoined about the tie only because it came against the team of free agents that apparently hadn't come close to winning a game until this past weekend when they played us. We were missing 3 key players--inclding both our regular pitchers--so we had a very makeshift lineup. On the positive side, we're still undefeated and we appear to have a shot at one of the top 4 spots come playoff time.
Speaking of the softball tournament, it came and went this past Mother's Day weekend with no major glitches. We did have to end the championship game an inning early when the rain finally decided to come, but at least we weren't rained out otherwise as we had feared. Also, the team that had won the previous six years in a row lost in the semifinals to the eventual champion. This year's champs had a solid team and they definitely earned their top spot. I hope this means next year's tournament is just as exciting.
¶ Writing has seen it's ups and downs as well. I posted and completed my story that I dedicated to
babylonica shortly after her passing. The sequel is completed and will be posted this October. I slowly resumed writing my non-published work, but my present lack of spare time has seen that take the back burner for now. I hope to resume it again soon. I also re-thought some of my upcoming sotry ideas and will adjust what i work on next.

I have possible acitvities the next two nights before the holiday weekend. Let's hope it's a fun end of the week. I just hope it warms up again. Two days ago, it was 80°F [26.7° C] here. Now, it's barely going above 50° [10 C]. My sinuses aren't too happy about that now.
Still, I'm looking forward to a fun summer.
