Hmm, I've been meaning to post on a somehwat periodic basis. I guess real life has gotten in the way until now.
¶ I'm still at my same job, and I've weathered another long tax season. I'm presently trying to keep things in good order and computerize what tasks I can since it makes it easy to produce monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports. In additon, I've decided to renew my efforts to try to find a new job with more hours. I won't go into all the details here, but it's something that I need to do.
¶ This winter capped my 4th season as a basketball referee. I had a very busy season in terms of how many games I officiated. I had my ups and downs as usual, including one game where I definitely didn't do well. However, I did learn some valuable takeaways in the process and I'm trying to do the same with my ratings for this season and the areas teams listed as areas of improvement. If I were to switch jobs and work more hours, though, it might mean I won't be able to officiate as much. However, it's a tradeoff I'm willing to accept if it means I'm in a better situation moving forward.
¶ A new kickball season started over a month ago. We're 2-2 so far with two more Spring games before playoffs. although our two losses were close--including one ot our favorite rivals--i'm happy with our record given we have a minimal roster this season and even playe done week short a player. If everyone plays their best and has fun in the process, I'm happy as manager. I'll have to try to find some replacement players for the coming summer season, but I remain hopeful.
¶ With another group I've been quasi-active in, I've done parody versions of a couple of old game shows (Press Your Luck and Match Game 7x) that have been received well. I'll admit it's been fun to host them and come up with questions for them, some of which incorporate group-specific people and events. Even though I can't always attend monthly gamenight, it's been a nice distraction to help get through some of the stressful or down moments. I've also enjoyed the chance to do some basic VB.net programming again, as I wrote my own computerized version of a Match Game scoreboard and a Press Your luck game board in Open Office Calc.
¶ With little free time, my fan fiction writing and my plans to rewrite another program of mine have been on hold more or less, but I'm hoping that changes this summer when I have more free time. i also want to see if I can revive my croquet league after we went on an unplanned extended hiatus.
That's about it in terms of major news, at least what I consider major and worthy of sharing here. I know few people come here--or even read this--but I still consider this my inner sanctum and hope to post every now and then. I also hope everyone is doing well.
