My timer project has been causing me a little bit of frustration. When I ported the program to a smaller chip (the ATtiny2313) it looked like it was going to work ok... until I attached useful things like LEDs to the circuit. Then, poof! The computer couldn't see the chip, couldn't program it, and nothing was happy
