Something to aspire to

“In spite of illness, in spite even of the arch-enemy sorrow, one can remain alive long past the usual date of disintegration if one is unafraid of change, insatiable in intellectual curiosity, interested in big things, and happy in small ways.”

Edith Wharton, A Backward Glance

Okay: FREAKY BORG!

I was just talking about the concept of building a happy life yesterday & I got told "The reason you're doing so well is that you adapt. To the feet, to what you have to do because of the feet, to the emotional implications, all of it."

So okay, I guess the coincidence here is only the "unafraid of change" part, but still, I got to use the phrase FREAKY BORG, so that's cool. :-)

That's the part I think I have the most trouble with - "unafraid of change". I think that I generally adapt when I have to and I do what I need to do but I always have a certain amount of fear when it comes to change - even good ones. So usually when change comes I am shaking inside, even though on the outside I may look like I'm dealing just fine. I guess there's something to be said about those of us who are afraid and still manage to deal with change anyway. But that's why I said it is something to aspire to - being unafraid.

Isn't Freaky Borg great? :-)
