Watch Your Civil Liberties Disappear!

The boss-attorney in the complex (Steve, a.k.a. The Blatt) received this mug as a gift, and we tried it out today. Disappearing Civil Liberties Mug. Basically it lists the bill of rights and when you pour hot coffee into the mug, certain amendments begin to fade away. The 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 9th and 10th remain quite clearly. Haha, if you pour coffee into it today, the eminent domain clause should disappear. (I mean it won't, but it may just as well have been erased on Thursday.)

Putting aside the question of the second (which is much in contention) I would argue the 9th is dead, and sadly because it is the basis for things like Griswold v Connetticut, Roe v Wade, Lawrence v Texas and all the other privacy related issues.

It also provides for things like maternity leave, and anything else not explicitly prescribed in the Consitution.

The Right hates it, because it is the obstacle which (sadly hasn't been used) to them making the Constitution into what Scalia has called, "a dead document" (by which he means it can't be interpreted in light of present morés, conditions and needs).
